It was the promise of seeing an iconic synth-pop group, and it was the promise of a Saturday night spent in Vegas hearing still-indelible classics like “The Reflex” and “Rio” and “Hungry Like The Wolf” live.Upon the recent release of Duran Duran’s 14th album, , Stereogum published a list of their 10 best songs.
When the band first emerged, they were generally considered part of the New Romantic scene, along with bands such as Spandau Ballet.
Duran Duran however would soon shed this image, by using fashion and marketing to build a more refined and elegant presentation.
And, naturally, the list had a lot of those MTV heavy-hitters represented — how could you not?
They’re a band whose hits helped define an era, a band whose most famous songs are some of the best pop singles out there, period.
They would go on to name the band after a character from Barbarella, Roger Vadim's French science-fiction film. This was the first complete line-up of the band that played live shows.
The character, played by Milo O'Shea, is named "Dr. For drums and percussion, an electronic drum machine belonging to Rhodes was used.

This past Saturday, one of the overwhelming bright spots on the Life Is Beautiful lineup was Duran Duran.
The group was formed by keyboardist Nick Rhodes and bass guitarist John Taylor, with the later addition of drummer Roger Taylor, and after numerous personnel changes, guitarist Andy Taylor and lead singer Simon Le Bon.
These five members featured the most commercially successful line-up.
